The Word of God
Over a century ago, William James, one of the founders of modern psychology, said The greatest discovery of this generation is that a human being can alter their life by altering their attitude. We have heard the expression: Is the glass half full or half empty? Indeed our choices of how we perceive things will definitely effect our actions to follow.
Each day we wake up in the morning, we choose our clothes, we choose our breakfast but, most importantly, we choose our attitudes. One of the most wonderful things about having a positive attitude is the number of people it touches, many times in ways you will never know. I believe that is why I enjoy teaching so much.
Have you ever written an article and then read the comments posted? Well, I experienced two completely different posts that I would like to share here. One lady stopped by and commented: Wow! An educated, informed article! Thanks so much! I am definitely going to bookmark this so I can refer to it when I have questions. I took theory, but it was so long ago I have forgotten most of it. I appreciate you.
I felt that I had made an impact on someone passing by, taking the time to read my chosen words. I had received some good news! After all, one of my goals is to enrich another life with the treasures that I have learned. You know, Pay It Again Forward. Share and learn from one another.
The following day, after a time with my Grandson, I received an email in my in box to read a comment posted regarding one of my music articles. I was shocked and saddened to read not just one comment but 5 long paragraphs, written 5 times of some very strong words letting me know that I was not on the same page as him.
It hit me right between the eyes: Two people, same music article; one made me feel great, and the other, well, made me feel that I had inconvenienced him by showing up as an author in the first place!
By the choices we make, by the attitudes we exhibit, we are influencing lives every day, in positive or negative ways...our family, our peers, our friends, and even strangers we have never met before and will never meet again.
So when you brush your hair every morning, look in the mirror and ask yourself... Are there things I would like to change? How will you choose to share your words today...as the grouch or as the good news girl?
Your answer will go a long way toward determining the joy and happiness that you will experience in your life.
